Mark Yarnell - Kelowna

The original aluminum Joyrider was inspired and purchased by Mark Yarnell, best selling author and flying enthusiast. He loves it and tells me he can't even go near it unless he has several hours to spare. It's like eating peanuts, you can't fly just once. He claims to be able to land the Extra on an aircraft carrier... Update. He now can land the glider on an aircraft carrier

I've witnessed the Extra miracle. Mark really is developing a fine touch. He is a true adrenaline junkie, while Richard has tried to make his simulation as real as possible and flies the heavies with all the limitations and realism. Mark is like me, happiest when he is on fire, inverted and screaming through a railway tunnel at mach 2. He called me a while back wanting to know how to save a flightr. He had landed a sailplane on an aircraft carrier.

Mark recently was bragging up his Joyrider to a buddy he was put to the test. Mark hasn't flown a conventional aircraft since he sold his Piper Cub more than 10 years ago and that was the only aircraft he has flown. His buddy has a Beachcraft and challenged him to put his money where his mouth is. Mark took off, flew for a hour and a half and landed. Mark tells me the Beach flies like a combination of a Cessna 172 and a Corsair, when you cut the throttle it drops like a stone. His buddy insisted that it couldn't be the simulator because he had time in the Piper. I tend to believe that landing at 40 mph and 120 mph requires a whole different set of skills. Mark is convinced that he could not have flown the Beach without the practice in the Simulator.

Mark has a room dedicated to his Joyrider and has his projector mounted support arm on the frame. The screen is permanently fixed on a wall.

Mark was happy with it the way I built it and didn't want to make any changes, that is until he saw the new "MFS". He ordered one! I'll get the original in trade for the museum.
